Welcome to Dimensional Dance Collective!

Updated: Feb 20

I’m Maya Williams, the Founder and CEO of Dimensional Dance Collective. This vision has been a long time in the making, sparked by a conversation with my mom and sister. Growing up in my mother’s dance studio and later competing at the national level, I was deeply immersed in the world of dance. But as I watched my mom take her students to local competitions, I started questioning why the competitive dance space often felt so draining.

My own path took me beyond dance—I was part of a nationally ranked Division I dance team, pursued an Ivy League MBA, and eventually secured a sought-after role in management consulting at a top firm. Along the way, I built a career where success was often measured in numbers—turn counts, test scores, rankings, promotions. But over time, I realized the most meaningful parts of life aren’t always quantifiable and live in the grey.

No matter what space I was in, one thing remained constant: I cared deeply about how people felt. Whether it was choreographing pieces with a message or creating inclusive environments in business school, I always gravitated toward building community. But after years of chasing traditional “success”—business school, McKinsey, the whole path—I felt out of alignment.

There have been so many moments where I’ve been the “only” and struggled to find where I belonged, especially in the dance world. It's the reason I created Dimensional Dance Collective—an inclusive, artist-centered space where dancers can train, create, and grow beyond just technique and competition. Here, we celebrate artistry, connection, and the power of movement to bridge that gap. My goal is to shift the conversation around dance education, making it about more than just steps—but about what those steps can mean.

I’m excited to build something different, something real. Welcome to Dimensional Dance Collective—I can’t wait to move with you all.
